概要 Saunders (library and information science, Simmons College) draws on, updates, and expands her PhD dissertation for this study on how higher education institutions interpret and apply information lite...acy standards in their programs and practices, with a focus on the standards of the Middle States Commission regarding information literacy outcomes of the six regional accreditation organizations, specifically its documents for institutional self-study. She discusses the role of accreditation organizations in the history of higher education in the US and how they affect the development of learning outcomes, then details her findings from analysis of self-studies and case studies of 264 institutions in terms of collaboration, assessment, accountability and transparency, institutional culture, and leadership. For this volume, she includes information on institutions in other parts of the US to draw comparisons, and updates on institutions accredited by the Middle States Commission since 2009.
