| 概要 | This is one of six volumes of the Archival Fundamentals Series II, which collectively seeks to "provide the foundation for modern archival practice and theory." Ritzenthaler (director of the Document ...onservation Division of the National Archives and Records Administration) addresses the preservation of archival materials, updating this second edition so as to account for the significant changes to the field arising from digital technology. She defines core elements in an archives preservation program and discusses the care of archival materials and the factors that affect their long-term keeping. Chapters address implementation of a preservation program, archival materials as physical objects, causes of deterioration and damage, creating a preservation environment, handling archival materials, storing and housing archival materials, integrating preservation and archival management, copying and reformatting, and conservation treatment. Appendices provide a glossary, a select bibliography, information on basic preservation procedures, and guides to further resources.
