概要 | This October 2009 issue of the Regional Economic Outlook reports on Asia's economic recovery in a global context. It draws lessons for today's crisis from Japan's recovery from its banking crisis of t...e 1990s, and overviews effects and policy implications of corporate savings in Asia. Color maps and charts are provided in a two-column format. There is no subject index. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com) Economic developments in Asia have been positive so far in 2007. Growth has been stronger (and in many cases more balanced) than expected across much of the region, again led by China and India, and inflation pressures remain largely contained. Moreover, Asia weathered the recent financial turbulence relatively well. The outlook is favorable, with growth expected to decline only modestly in 2008 as foreign demand for Asias exports slows. The main risk for the region is a sharper-than-expected global slowdown. Asia continues to grow during the second year of global economic expansion, pulling ahead of most other regions during the first half of 2010, and still doing well, if more moderately, during the second half. Risk comes from external conditions rather than any inherent weakness or instability. The report covers risks and challenges of moving to sustainable growth, inflation dynamics in Asia, investment and rebalancing, and low-income countries and the Pacific Islands. There is no index. Color tables illustrate growth measures, inflation rates, bond issuance, export levels, government spending, and poverty indicators.
