The material is arranged both chronologically and thematically and discusses topics such as the nexus of agri-business and state power, the origins of the Bracero Program, work housing and conditions, effects on the labor market, surplus labor, wage struggles, resistance to imported labor, and the end of the Bracero Program. The work is scholarly in tone and well notated but is accessible to an interested general audience. A selection of black and white photographs is included.
