| 概要 | This text has been developed out of a minicourse given by Grimaldi (mathematics, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology) at national mathematics meetings on examples, properties, and applications of the ...equences of the Fibonacci and Catalan numbers. The material is presented in a manner that is intended to allow a broad range of mathematicians to understand at least significant portions of the material even if they are unfamiliar with the subject area and so should be considered an introduction to the two important number sequences. For the Fibonacci numbers, applications are discussed in relation to set theory, the composition of integers, graph theory, matrix theory, trigonometry, botany, chemistry, physics, probability, and computational complexity. For the Catalan numbers, applications dealing with lattice paths, graph theory, geometry, partial orders, sequences, pattern avoidance, partitions, and computer science are discussed.
