| 概要 | Editors Martin Quack and Frederic Merkt (both affiliated with the Laboratorium fur Physikalische Chemie, Zurich, Switzerland) refer in their preface to the work of Gerhard Herzberg, whose series of bo...ks on atomic and molecular spectroscopy organized the field over a period of three decades beginning in 1936. In the latter third of the 20th century, however, the field enjoyed a renaissance due to developments including the laser, Fourier transform spectroscopy and computer technology, and quantum mechanical theory. Standing on the shoulders of Herzberg's work, this three-volume reference offers a new foundation for the field's rich potential in the 21st century. After several introductory articles, the contents are organized to cover the development of theory and ab initio quantum chemistry; experimental spectroscopy (microwave, infrared, visible, and ultraviolet); and special techniques and applications in various areas of high-resolution spectroscopy.
