| 概要 | In a graduate textbook introducing stochastic networks to science and engineering students, Ibe (U. of Massachusetts-Lowell) explains two network models, arguing that researchers and practitioners in ...ny multi-disciplinary setting need to know them both. The first is queuing network models, in which customers move among stations to receive service. The time and order of service are random for the customer, and are governed by a probabilistic routing schedule for the station. Queuing networks tend to be used for traffic modeling in computer and telecommunications networks, transportation systems, and manufacturing networks. The other type is graphic models, systems that use graphs to model different types of problems. They include Bayesian networks. Graphical models are used in statistics, data mining, and social networks. He circumvents the proof-theorem format traditionally used to in stochastic systems modeling books, and focuses instead on basic results.
