| 概要 | Lui (mathematics, U. of Manitoba) presents a textbook on the theory behind algorithms used to approximate solutions of partial differential equations. It is designed for a two-semester course at the s...nior undergraduate or beginning graduate level, for students in mathematical sciences and engineering who have had a solid undergraduate course in analysis. Some exposure to numerical analysis and partial differential equations would also be helpful, he says. He emphasizes elliptic equations, but devotes one chapter to evolutionary ones. Other topics include finite elements, spectral methods, multigrid, domain decomposition, and nonlinear problems. Answers to selected chapter-end problems are provided.
