| 概要 | Rather than focusing on "Asian values," this volume presents perspectives on the complex politics, Islamic law interpretations, and social factors influencing a particular country's government policie... and behavior with respect to human rights issues. Davis and Galligan (both at the U. of Melbourne, Australia) introduce a dozen chapters--based on a 2009 symposium held at the editors' campus--that provide insights into human rights violations and variable responses to international pressures. Several of the countries profiled (Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar) are members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (SEAN) and the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.
