| 概要 | This art book surveys the contributions of (predominately) Western women to the world of art from the time of the Renaissance to more contemporary times. Barlow (associate editor Woman's Art Journal) ...hronologically documents the work of some three hundred women painters and sculptors with large colorplate reproductions of their works. She also includes textual introductions to each of her chapters, which are organized according to different geographical, stylistic, and philosophical themes, including Latin American painters and sculptors and traditional art and artists. She also occasionally includes excerpts of writings, such as autobiographies, of the featured artists themselves in sidebars. Among the artists featured are Judith Leyster, Angelica Kauffmann, Emily Mary Osborn, Camille Claudel, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Georgia O'Keefe, Kathe Kollwitz, Frida Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, Faith Ringgold, and Judy Chicago.
