| 概要 | Published in conjunction with a 2010-2011 exhibition organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC in association with the Musee d'Orsay, Paris, this catalog showcases 125 images, with text,...elucidating the interplay between photography and painting in the era of the Pre-Raphaelites. The subject is rich and has not been thoroughly explored previously. It involves such artists as Julia Margaret Cameron, Henry Peach Robinson, Dante Gariel Rossetti, and John William Inchbold, among others--and their investigation of reality, nature, and visual representation. Organization is in topical sections on minute details, natural effects, portraits and studies, poetic subjects, and romance and modern life. The essays are by Diane Waggoner (National Gallery of Art), Tim Barringer (art history, Yale U.), Joanne Lukitsh (art history, Massachusetts College of Art and Design), Jennifer L. Roberts (history of art and architecture, Harvard U.), and Britt Salvesen (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). The book measures 9x12".
