The policies are viewed h...re as a third American revolution, and examined not simply as a response to the Great Depression but also as an expression of FDR's political ideology, his religious ideas, and his experiences in the Progressive movement. The first part of the book analyzes FDR's response to the economic crisis and recounts the opposition from conservatives. The second section gathers edited speeches, messages to Congress, and 'fireside chat' radio addresses that reveal the roots of FDR's political philosophy.
