| 概要 | Yingzhe (Mongolian studies, Inner Mongolia U., China) and Janhunen (world cultures, U. of Helsinki, Finland) further the study of the Khitan language and script by presenting editions, transcriptions,...translations and commentary on two documents from the 10th century, when the Khitan Empire was the dominant power in Asia. One is the Epitaph of Deputy Commissioner Xiao Dilu, and the other is the Epitaph of Field Marhsal Yelu. Both were acquired by Inner Mongolia University in 2007. The introduction discusses such aspects as the Khitan scripts, stages of decipherment, the graphic system, and the new characters.
