概要 The two editors describe the contents in the initial chapter: "This book offers a range of case-studies from around the globe--India, Indonesia, the Middle East, North Africa, Spain, the United States...-that take up the tangled relationships between religion and politics in the presentness of this globalizing age." Eight contributions are arranged under the broad themes of shaping religion through politics, open conflicts between religion and politics, the tight embrace of religion and politics, and opening new space for religion. The afterword is a discussion of fixation of belief and the dilemmas of fallibility. Galina Lindquist (1955-2008) is honored in a memoir by a colleague; she was affiliated with the social anthropology department, Stockholm U. and did fieldwork among neo-shamans in Sweden, alternative healing practitioners and patients in Moscow, and shamans and lamas in southern Siberia. Co-editor Don Handleman (emeritus, The Hebrew U. of Jerusalem) brought the book to completion. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com) 続きを見る
