| 概要 | The anthology was born out of a 2002-04 research project funded by the Austrian Science Fund to investigate the concept of paranormal and supranormal perception in the Buddhist epistemological traditi...n. Scholars of philosophy and religion, of southern Asia, of life sciences, and other fields look at yogic perception in the south Asian and Tibetan traditions, and meditation and altered states of consciousness from an interdisciplinary perspective. Among the topics are the tactical implications of the Mimamsa rejection of yogic perception, the so-called yoga of suppression in the Patanjala Yogasastra, shamans and transformation in Nepal and peninsular Malaysia, and altered states of consciousness as structural variations of the cognitive system.
