| 概要 | The first edition was published in 1979, and the second in 1990. The chemical reaction engineering field has changed considerably since then, and Froment (Texas A&M U.), Kenneth B. Bischoff (U. of Del...ware), and Juray De Wilde (U. Catholique de Louvain, Belgium) have largely rewritten the entire text to accommodate what students will need to know when they begin work. They have retained the structure, first discussing the kinetics of phenomena that are important in reaction engineering: reaction kinetics, both homogeneous (single phase) and heterogeneous (multi-phase). They describe the mechanism of the reaction in greater detail--so presumably greater accuracy--than before. Then they turn to the chemical reactor itself, placing the kinetic aspects of the first part into the modeling and simulation of the reactor operation. Among the considerations are balances between mass, energy, and momentum; batch, semi-batch, and continuous flow reactors; and deviations from what were once thought to be ideal models and behaviors.
