| 概要 | Photovoltaic (PV) conversion of sunlight into electricity is introduced as arguably the "greenest," most ubiquitous, and potentially most reliable alternative to fossil fuels. A consultant from sunny ...alifornia discusses solar cell technology from historical, design, theoretical, performance, and comparative energy source cost perspectives. Following a summary of developments in solar cell technologies since the 1950s, Jha discusses performance specifications, design parameters, materials suited to replace traditional semiconductor materials currently used in first-generation solar devices, types of solar cells (including nanotechnology-based ones), and a theoretical model which describes the mechanisms involved. A chapter is devoted to space applications, e.g., communication and surveillance satellites.
