| 概要 | Almost everyone in environmental and ecological studies must take statistics, and it is the least liked and least effectively taught subject in the curriculum, says Qian (environmental, Duke U.). The ...eason is that both teachers and students mistake applied statistics for some kind of mathematics. He bypasses much of the mathematical and theoretical background, and emphasizes the inductive nature of statistical thinking. Close to the beginning, he explains the R computer language and environment for statistical computing and graphics, free software distributed as part of the GNU project. Other topics include statistical assumptions and inference, linear and nonlinear models, classification and regression trees, simulation for model checking and statistical inference, and multilevel regression.
