| 概要 | The late Thomas Gitau, an epidemiologist, Margaret Gitau (agricultural engineering, Florida A&M University) and Waltner-Toews (epidemiology, University of Guelph, Canada) present a method to assess me...hods of establishing sustainable farming on small holdings. They give the example of villages in Uganda that aided in enumerating the problems and suggesting solutions. The goal is to provide food production that is ecologically sustainable. The results suggest that the method is feasible. Among its strengths are an equal contribution from communities and researchers and that the results are presented in a way that allows communities to self-direct. The assessment takes into account ecological conditions and local infrastructure as well as social concerns making it a comprehensive tool.
