| 概要 | Perceiving a "growing willingness and ability to establish an equal partnership between Europe and Asia based on mutual interest, common views on good governance and values, and emerging regionalism,"...the editors (both with the department of political science, Justus- Liebig-U. Giessen, Germany) present 16 papers reviewing concepts and perspectives of regionalism and interregional cooperation, particularly focusing on interregional relations between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Theoretical, conceptual, and methodological issues are addressed in the first section, including social contract theory and supranational integration and the relationships between globalization, regionalization, and national sovereignty. Issues of European self-identity and Asian perceptions of Europe are addressed in the next section, followed by discussion of such topics as cross- regional dynamics and their contribution to global governance efforts, human rights in Europe, the implications of European monetary integration for East Asia, and Asian perspectives of the European Union as an international security actor. A final section on nation-state views includes sections discussing the European Union's arms embargo on China, the India-European Union strategic partnership, Japan and the Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe, European foreign and security policy towards Indonesia, and the development of Korea-European relations.
