概要 | The World Bank Legal Review: Law, Equity, and Development is a publication for policy makers and their advisers, attorneys, and other professionals engaged in the field of international development. ...t offers a combination of legal scholarship, lessons from experience, legal developments, and recent research on the many ways in which the application of the law and the improvement of justice systems promote poverty reduction, economic development, and the rule of law. The volume includes articles by many distinguished scholars, academics, and policymakers. Intended for policy makers, attorneys, and other professionals in international development, this volume features research on how the application of the law and improvement of justice systems promote poverty reduction, economic development, and the rule of the law. The volume originated from the World Bank's World Development Report 2006: Equity and Development and a subsequent conference held in November 2005. The report argued that development can be sustainable when equity is present; it also discussed inequality issues. Most of the nineteen papers here were drawn from a related forum on Law, Equity, and Development held in December of 2005, which had an objective of defining the concept of equity. Topics address rethinking the processes and practices of law and development and exploring the institutional and policy context of these processes in places such as Africa and Latin America. Contributors discuss the relationship between development and human rights, morality, and ethics, as well as environmental justice, and the relationship between intellectual property rights and the development of inclusive economic markets. The final section contains papers on the World Bank's policies on physical cultural resources and indigenous peoples. Papers were written by an international group of academics and practitioners in law, criminal justice, economics, human rights, social development, cultural studies, and anthropology, or those associated with the World Bank. Some of the papers were previously published in other volumes or journals. Annotation ©2007 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com) 続きを見る |
