| 概要 | This book from the World Bank presents 12 of the African case studies that were developed for the "Scaling Up Poverty Reduction" project presented at the Chinese government and World Bank co-sponsored...Global Learning Conference of May 2004. The case studies are based on the idea that the two strategic pillars for poverty reduction are the investment climate and social inclusion and the belief that four implementation factors serve as the drivers of "pro-poor change:" commitment and political economy for change, institutional innovation, learning and experimentation, and external catalysts. Thus, the case studies assess the investment climate in Rwanda; the Senegal River Basin; the Kenyan horticultural export sector; and the information and communications technologies sector of Botswana, Mauritania, and Tanzania. Social inclusion, then, becomes the focus of studies examining microfinance in Kenya; primary education in Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, and Uganda; water and sanitation services in Ghana, Lesotho, and South Africa; efforts to combat riverblindness (onchocerciasis) across the continent; HIV/AIDS prevention in Uganda; and African uses of social investment funds.
