概要 | Cooperative learning, the student-centered approach to teaching that is grounded in the belief that an individual's potential to succeed is enhanced by working in groups, has been embraced by second l...nguage teachers for many years. Nevertheless, few resources covering the topic in depth have been available. In this much-needed volume, Part I provides the grounding for cooperative learning with discussion of the educational research; issues surrounding implementation; and its relationship to second language learning. Part II includes six case histories written by teachers from around the world who teach in elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels of instruction. Preservice and in-service teachers, materials developers, and anyone interested in a collaborative approach to teaching and learning will want to add Cooperative Learning and Second Language Teaching to their collections. Book jacket. Although Cooperative Learning has steadily grown in popularity in second-language classrooms, few resources are available that cover the topic in depth. Cooperative Learning in Second Language Teaching is a comprehensive overview, suitable for MA TESOL programs and for in-service teachers. Part I provides a grounding for collaborative/cooperative learning by discussing the educational research, issues that surround its implementation, and how it relates to theories of second language learning. Part II is a series of six narrative chapters written by teachers from around the world (Singapore, Canada, the United States, Lebanon and Japan). These teachers reveal their experiences using cooperative learning in their classrooms, demonstrating the effectiveness of this approach, in both second and foreign language contexts, for elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels of instruction. An appendix outlining the techniques in these chapters is also included. 続きを見る |
