It does so by using a wealth of data to examine the behaviour of the gas, transportation and supply costs which all contribute to the price of gas paid by both business and domestic consumers. A central contention is that the replacement of administered arrangements by market relationships and competition have made UK gas prices far more sensitive to insecurities of supply, both small-scale and large-scale strategic, leading gas companies to create an industry ownership structure which helps defend them from the ensuring risks.
