She sees this collection as a first step in rethinking and rebuilding the field so that it can be more globally applicable in reach and more able to accommodate all parts of the global economy in all its diversity. To this end, nine essays are presented that address the key debates of the field: globalization, governance, states, models of capitalism, finance, transnational relations, democratization, and regionalism. Each author has been asked to examine the evolution of the theoretical, conceptual, and empirical assumptions of the debate; the problems and limitations of such assumptions; and how such limitations may be overcome in order to "globalize" international political economy.
