| 概要 | The prepositional clause, one of the most overworked and misunderstood constructs in language, has moved from the background of inquiry into the foreground as it offers substantial opportunities in co...plex expressions. In this new approach the author uses statistical and syntactic methods of study to create a hierarchy of thematic elements, creating a list of possible variations in a number of language groups. He creates a model which can be applied to a number of situations in a wide range of complexities, and provides a new tool for linguists interested in the syntax of modifiers.
