概要 | Nearly all of the journal articles and conference papers written by the author (a senior research fellow at the East Asian Institute of the National U. of Singapore) over the past decade have been on ...he topic of democracy in China. Here, he presents revised versions of 12 of those papers. The first group of papers seeks to highlight the major obstacles to democratization, such as the "state dominion of society," "party dominion of state," and the de-linking of national and popular sovereignty. The next set of papers focuses on elite politics and their impact on democratic development with discussions of the significance of power struggles and their institutionalization. Finally, issues of social class are explored as a central part of understanding democratic development. Distributed in the US by ISBS.
