| 概要 | Nesadurai (Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies, Nanyang Technological U., Singapore) and the other contributors to this collection examine the East Asian experience with globalization, asking w...ether it has increased or decreased economic security in the region. The 13 papers include studies of countries directly affected by the Asian financial crisis and with high levels of domestic poverty and inequality but perceive economic security in different manners (Thailand and Indonesia), transition countries under communist party rule that see economic security in realist/statist and social welfare terms (Vietnam and China), and countries with significant geopolitical/geostrategic vulnerabilities that view the economy as a means of empowering the state (Taiwan and Singapore).
