| 概要 | The neoliberal consensus that over the past two decades has come to dominate much of the world's economic policy has been characterized by the reliance on monetary policy targeting inflation over fisc...l policy concerned with employment and growth, the promotion of the idea that inflexibility in the labor market is the cause of unemployment, and the liberalization and deregulation of financial and other markets. The editors (both affiliated with the Levy Economics Institute) present six revised and updated papers--originally from the journal International Papers in Political Economy--that take a critical look at these and related trends. Papers consider the dangers of having independent central banks, the relationship between financial liberalization and financial fragility in South Korea, a reappraisal of the Swedish (or Rehn-Meidner) employment and price stability model as applicable to the EU level, the mistakes of Spanish and Brazilian neomonetarist policies, and the deflationary policy implications of the European Economic and Monetary Union.
