| 概要 | Calling for the linkage of the moral cosmopolitanism of Martin Luther King, Jr., with an institutional cosmopolitanism that aims to transform the global system, Cabrera (political theory and global po...itics, Arizona State U. West) lays out a framework for a system of global governance which furthers the political and economic integration represented the European Union, the North American Free Trade Agreement, and the World Trade Organization, but is more transparent, accountable, and democratically contestable. He first explores the theoretical foundations for such an integrated world system, including utilitarian and deontological approaches to economic distribution. He then seeks to counter common objections to a global democratic system, including the democratic distance argument and concerns raised about nationality and citizenship. Finally, he points to the "constitutionalization" of the European Union as a counter to objections to the project's near-term feasibility.
