They argue that the motive behind his philosophical method was his faith, and that he needed a high level of abstraction and technicality to vindicate the love of God. The selections reveal his thinking on necessity and contingency in scientific theology and theological ethics, the act of love and eternal life, divine election and merit, the goodness of God's will vindicated, and an infinite act of love.
