| 概要 | Security has traditionally meant the physical safety of a state, explains Lott (St. Olaf College), but after the end of the Cold War, many people began using the term to mean human security concerns. ...e seeks to bring the two seemingly contradictory approaches together, not with a metatheoretical device that can bridge the serious philosophical differences between them, but to balance a critical form of realism with the political discourses that are coming out of the constructivist writers in security studies. In particular, he examines the sources of insecurity that reflect both the earlier realist emphasis on national security and the more recent emphasis by constructivists on epistemological coherence and cultural influence.
