Among the works was On Affections, a st...tement of the Stoic doctrine of the emotions of the soul. Examining the direct quotations from Galen and a number of other sources, the author assesses the extent to which the treatise can be reconstructed while steering clear of the "barren speculation and circular reasoning" of the method called Quellenforschung from a century ago.
