| 概要 | Number theory has been enriched by diophantine analysis since the third century, but it is still a very active study and includes many open questions and conjectures. Steuding (mathematics, U. Autonom... de Madrid) develops his treatment around the theory of continued fractions, beginning with the classic theory and including some of its applications. He also addresses the abc conjecture, the polynomial Pell equation, and the irrationality of the zeta function, subjects rarely described in print, and includes applications related to discrete mathematics such as factoring methods for large integers.
