| 概要 | In introducing 14 revisions of presentations made at the International Workshop on Evidentiality held in 2001 at the editors' campus, Aikhenvald (Research Centre for Linguistic Typology, La Trobe U., ...ictoria, Australia) defines evidentiality as a grammatical category in many languages about the source of the evidence on which a statement is based (e.g., heard, seen, inferred) and overviews types of evidentiality systems. Other contributors discuss evidentiality in specific languages (e.g., Western Apache, Tibetan Qiang, and Balkan tongues) and in comparative surveys.
