| 概要 | This is a paperbound reprint of a 2002 book. Lee Miller has been better known for her colorful and unorthodox life than for her photography, but her work certainly merits attention. Calvocoressi (Scot...ish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh) does not focus on her life story, but describes it briefly to provide context to her photography. Primarily a portraitist, Miller began her career as a model for Vogue, where she was photographed by some of the great fashion photographers of the day, and learned from these photographers. Some of her subsequent activities included studying photography with dada-surrealist Man Ray, traveling to Egypt, and working as a war correspondent during WWII. This volume displays excellent full-page duotone illustrations of her b&w work, many of which are portraits of well known writers, musicians, and artists.
