| 概要 | This book describes the construction of the Late Paleozoic basement of Europe and eastern North America, and relates it to the evolution of the Gondwanan and Laurentian continental margins and their i...tervening ocean basins. It deciphers paleotectonic environments based on paleontological, stratigraphic, or petrological data. Metamorphic petrology is then used to estimate pressure and temperature conditions of subdocuted portions of the Variscan belt and the processes involved in their exhumation. Large-scale tectonics and plate interactions are also described, and the seismic signatures of the Caledonides, Variscides, and Uralides are reviewed.
