| 概要 | Carstens (social anthropology, University of Toronto) describes the history of Kleinzee, a company town created and controlled by De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd. He traces the development of this tow... from the first discovery of diamonds in 1926 to its current conditions, and he examines the system of stratification engineered by the company for the sake of maximizing profits and controlling the workers. In particular, he discusses efforts to discourage theft and prepare for future expansion.
