| 概要 | The title suggests this to be yet another book about fractals for general readers, and so in some respects it is: mathematical material is generally avoided, the paper slick, the figures very numerous...and frequently quite interesting/informative. The text touches--frequently digressively (in the style of a "random walk")--on many topics, and appears to be the work of an engaged/engaging proselytizer. But the author is by profession a materials scientist, with special interest in ceramics, dust, the fracture of materials, and it is that subject matter which again and again provides his point of departure, his motivating thread.
