| 概要 | Countering the conventional view that Russian capitalism was shaped by the tsarist state's orders, Grant (modern Russian history, Florida State U.Tallahassee) argues that the most famous industrial c...nglomerate in the Russian Empire adopted business practices that resembled those of large machinery and armament manufacturers in western Europe. He also critiques both Soviet and western scholarship on Russian economic and social history. A philosophical inquiry into the theoretical limits of the scientific project. The author argues that while science is limited, there is no reason to believe that it will reach a dead end. In fact, he contends, the sorts of disabilities to which science is subjectare simply the reverse side of its strengths as an endlessly versatile intellectual tool. Annotation c.
