| 概要 | The Japanese Association of English Corpus Studies (JAECS) was founded in 1993, bringing together scholars to share research and exchange advice, knowledge and encouragement. In 2000, the JAECS made a...call for papers to its members, which resulted in this first volume in English featuring papers by leading Japanese linguists. Twenty contributions are arranged in sections on corpus-based studies in contemporary English, historical and diachronic studies of English, English corpora and English language teaching, and software for analyzing corpora. A sampling of topics includes syntactic boundaries and prosodic features in English, collocational patterns of -ly manner adverbs in Dickens, a corpus-based approach to communication strategies of EFL learners, and using KWIC Concordance for Windows as an analytical tool.
