| 概要 | The (mis)spelling in the title is intentional (though it will probably cause havoc with cataloguers, bibliographers, and proofreaders) and is central to the author's challenge to contemporary and trad...tional theories of architecture (the explanation of the new spelling involves tracing the Greek root tec- back to tic- and to the verb tiktein which means "to love," " to engender," "to reproduce"). Chapter One proposes a new reading of Plato's Timaeus, the seminal work in Western philosophy on the architecture of the universe and the human body. Chapter Two looks at an ecstatic interpretation of human spatiality in the work of Kant, Hegel, and Heidegger. Chapter Three offers essays on Freud and Heidegger on the theme of the uncanny and unhomelike. A final chapter turns to three recent thinkers: Merleau-Ponty, Bataille, and Irigaray.
