| 概要 | Spijkerboer (migration law, U. of Nijmegen, the Netherlands) set out to demonstrate the discrimination of immigration officials against women by analyzing vast amounts of data from individual cases bo...h in his own country and throughout the industrialized world. He came up empty handed; the data show no quantitative discrimination against women at all. During his research, however, he encountered many instances of decisions and considerations based on clear assumptions about femininity, gender, and sexuality. For example, sexual violence during interrogation is construed as a private act and not torture, and non-compliance with dress codes falls outside the scope of the refugee definition because, after all, it is only about clothing.
