Apart from the wealth of statistics presented, it also analyzes the prospects of urbanization & city growth in the world; describes the methodology used for estimations & projections; & lists the sources of data that underlie the estimation of urban population. This report presents the results of the United Nations 1999 Revision of the official United Nations estimates and projections of urban and rural populations and of urban agglomerations for major areas, regions, and countries. Estimates and projections are presented for the period 1950-2030 for the total urban and rural populations of world, its 21 regions, and five major areas, as well as for 228 countries or areas. The report also provides estimates and projections of the population of urban areas with 750,000 inhabitants or more in 1995 for the period 1950-2015. A substantial introduction explains the findings. This report does not have a subject index. c. Book News Inc.
