| 概要 | In order to understand better the external influences on foreign policy, the contributors to this book use concepts from two different schools of thought about the world-system. Immanuel Wallerstein a...d his associates view the world-system as essentially economic in character, a system of trade, that divides labour and profit among core and peripheral nations. George Modelski emphasizes the conflicts between countries and the succession of major powers. These essays have virtues often absent from studies of foreign policy. They display a new sensitivity to economic and social change, and to the systemic forces that condition the behaviour of states.
