They illustrate the application of this innovative approach, which broadens symbolic interactionist theory by including adult role players. The first part of the book defines the dramaturgical perspective. The second part presents applications of this perspective in analyzing both conflict (protests and demonstrations) and conflict resolution (the settlement of disputes between ethnic and national groups). Three separate appendices provide more information about dramatism in social psychology, phase movement in collective behaviour, and dimensional analysis of specific dramatic situations.
