All entries in the compilation are organized according to the molecular formula index system used by Chemical Abstracts. Arrangement is in four-column data lists. The compound formula and name appear in the first column. Solvent or phase appears in the second column. The numerical data in the third column present wavelength values in nanometers (millimicrons) for all maxima, shoulders, and inflections, with the logorithms of the corresponding molar absorptivities in parenthesis. The reference column contains the code number of the journal, the initial page number of the paper, and the year. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR **** This series, begun in 1956 (and cited in Chen and Powell), attempts to abstract and publish in formula order all the ultraviolet-visible spectra of organic compounds presented in the journal literature. The total collection amounts to over a half million spectra in the 30 volumes so far. All entries are organized according to the molecular formula index system used by Chemical Abstracts. Solvent or phase appears in the second column of the data lists, while the numerical data in the third column present wavelength values in nanometers (millimicrons) for all maxima, shoulders and inflections, with the logarithms of the corresponding molar absorptivities in parenthesis.
