Part Two examines a wider range of networks that make up the support system of the elderly. Part Three explores how senior citizens use health and social services through their social networks. The conclusion reached is that `older people do not engage in relationships on the basis of a one-sided dependency; rather relationships tend to be reciprocal or interdependent'. This book offers a positive and realistic approach to the relationship between the elderly and society. The diversity and specificity of the chapter topics make the book an attractive supplementary text, and a reference book for professionals.
