| 概要 | Granger (philosophy, Wayne State U., Detroit) surveys contemporary interpretations of Aristotle's idea of the soul and finds them divided between attributivism that takes the soul for a property, and ...ubstantialism that takes it for a thing. He classifies and evaluates both positions and concludes that neither may be maintained without compromise, because Aristotle himself ascribes to the soul some features belonging exclusively to a thing and some belonging exclusively to a property. He argues that Aristotle treats it as a cross between them because his hylomorphism casts it as a property and his causal doctrine as a causal agent and thereby a thing.
