They agree that policies that encourage inflation seem to have low costs and short-term benefits, but that governments must resist the urge and devote themselves to the long term. The 13 papers evolved from a series of conferences and workshops that were part of collaborative research on economic reform in the former communist countries undertaken by Claremont Colleges, Georgetown University, and the Gothenburg School of Economics and Commercial Law.
